Dracut Reads 2024

We’re excited to launch our semi-annual Dracut Reads series in September. This year’s title is: The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning: How to Free Yourself and Your Family from a Lifetime of Clutter by Margareta Magnusson. This slim volume delivers sage wisdom about the invigorating process of clearing out unnecessary belongings with a mind towards leaving your affairs in order before others must do it for you. The author’s radical and joyous method for putting things in order helps families broach sensitive conversations and makes the process uplifting rather than overwhelming.

Death Cafe: Wednesday, September 18 – 6:30-7:30, in-person

Join us for a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. Our goal is to follow the Death Cafe model “to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives.” This is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session. To read more about the model and the movement visit www.deathcafe.com. Library staff will facilitate this discussion. Light refreshments. You don’t need to register but please do so we can have an idea of how much food/drink to provide.

Dracut Reads 2024 – Book Club – Share Your Success and Struggles: Wednesday, September 25 – 6:30-7:30, in-person

You’ve read the book, you’ve started the process of decluttering—or you need a little inspiration, motivation, help from your fellow neighbors. Join in this easy-going discussion of the Dracut Reads book and share a story of your success or challenge or inspiration. Light Refreshments. You don’t need to register but please do so we can have an idea of how much food/drink to provide.
