Read, Renew, Repeat during our 2024 Summer Reading Challenge!

Are you ready to Read, Renew, Repeat with us this summer? Join us for our Summer Reading Kickoff Party on Tuesday, June 25th between 4:00 and 7:00 for live music, food trucks, lawn games, and, most importantly, to sign up for Summer Reading!
The Kids’ Summer Reading Program is for children up to and including those entering 5th Grade in the fall.
The Children’s Room is excited to be running a Read and Bead program again this summer! Track the minutes you spend reading to earn beads for your summer reading necklace. The more you read, the more beads you earn. You can also trade in your plain beads for ones in fun shapes!
The Bead Table will be open the following hours and will close one week after the end of the reading challenge (Friday, 8/23):
Monday-Wednesday: 9:00am-7:00pm
Thursday-Friday: 9:00am-4:00pm

We also have paper logs available in the Children’s Room or to download here. The activities on the bingo card for younger readers are generally geared towards readers of picture books or kids who aren’t yet reading without assistance, while the activities on the bingo cards for older readers are aimed at independent readers who are more often choosing chapter books. There are no age restrictions for the bingo cards and you are welcome to pick whichever bingo card appeals more to your child(ren).

Be sure to check out all the awesome activities we have planned this summer over on our Events Calendar, including the opportunity to practice reading skills with the least judgmental audience we know, Mo the dog! Mo will be here from 12:00-1:00pm on Tuesdays 6/25, 7/9, 7/23, and 8/6. Space is often limited so registration is required for most events this summer!
All summer reading participants of any age are invited to an Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, August 14th, from 3:00-4:30 to celebrate a summer of Reading, Renewing, and Repeating. There’ll be ice cream (of course) and games, and it’s a great time to exchange your logged reading for the beads you’ve earned. We hope to see you there!
